Storytelling in the scenic city: Southern Regional Honors Conference comes to Chattanooga
For the first time, the Southern Regional Honors Conference (SRHC) came to Chattanooga—bringing students from across the South to present research, explore the city and connect through shared stories. UTC and Chattanooga State Community College hosted the 2025 SRHC from Thursday through Saturday, March 27-29, at the Chattanooga Convention Center, welcoming more than 500 honors students and educators from 11 southern states.
UTC bringing realistic police training simulation to the classroom
A high-tech simulation, VirTra, will be introduced to the classroom in the fall. The program trainees to participate in realistic, scenario-based training where their decisions, verbal commands and reactions directly influence the outcome.

UTC Innovation Lab students hit the road with ideas to improve Chattanooga’s transit
Students in the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga’s Innovations in Honors program are changing the city’s transportation game. As part of Dr. Jordan King’s Innovation Lab, housed in the UTC Honors College, students have spent the 2024-25 academic year coming up with ideas and working with the Chattanooga Area Regional Transportation Authority (CARTA) to address issues in Chattanooga’s public transit system.
