For the second year in a row, the UTC chapter of the Society of Physics Students (SPS) has earned national recognition for its achievements. Over winter break, the chapter learned that it had once again received the Outstanding Chapter Award from the SPS National Office, cementing its status as a top-tier student-led organization.

Milestones and memories: McKenzie Arena to host UTC commencement ceremonies Friday and Saturday
The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga will celebrate its 264th commencement this week, honoring the accomplishments of its graduates with two ceremonies at McKenzie Arena. Together, the ceremonies will recognize approximately 730 undergraduates and 130 graduate students earning their degrees this fall.
Kim White to remain at UTC; Michael Jones named interim dean of Gary W. Rollins College of Business
Vice Chancellor for Advancement and Executive Director of the UC Foundation Kim White, who previously decided to transition into a new role in 2025, has agreed to continue as vice chancellor, Dr. Michael Jones has been appointed interim dean for the Gary W. Rollins College of Business.
Raccoon Mountain Caverns gifted to UTC
Donated to the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, Raccoon Mountain Caverns is UTC’s newest classroom and research laboratory. Located approximately 15 minutes southwest of campus, it is a complex cave system known for its extensive underground formations and diverse ecosystem.

Education Day brings school-day excitement to McKenzie Arena—and a Mocs win
The Athletics Department held its annual Education Day at the women’s basketball game against Lipscomb on Monday, Nov. 25, welcoming more than 2,000 elementary and middle school students for the mid-day contest. Education Day has become an annual tradition at UTC, with one game close to Thanksgiving or holiday break moving to an early tipoff to allow local students to come to campus and experience the atmosphere.
